Too unwell to leave your hotel in Osaka or Kyoto? Learn when a hotel doctor visit may help, how to arrange one, and what to prepare.
You planned to spend the day exploring Osaka or Kyoto. Instead, you are lying in your hotel room with a fever, cold symptoms, or a general illness, wondering how you could manage the journey to a clinic.
Being sick away from home is unsettling. It can feel even harder when getting dressed, navigating an unfamiliar city, and waiting outside your room seem like too much. In this situation, a hotel doctor visit may be an option to discuss.
Consider contacting a doctor when your symptoms are not settling, are interfering with your trip, or leave you too unwell to travel to a clinic. A doctor can assess your condition and discuss an appropriate next step rather than asking you to make that decision alone.
In a life-threatening emergency, call 119 for an ambulance. Our clinic provides outpatient care and is not an emergency room.
A hotel doctor visit allows a doctor to come to your hotel room when you are too unwell to travel to the clinic. The service is intended for concerns such as a cold, fever, or general illness that need a medical assessment outside an emergency setting.
During the visit, the doctor will assess your symptoms and determine what care is appropriate. A hotel visit does not replace emergency services, so describe your current condition clearly when you first make contact.
Contact the clinic by phone or WhatsApp to ask about arranging a hotel visit. If communicating while ill feels difficult, you can ask your hotel front desk or concierge to help you contact the clinic.
Tell the clinic that you are staying in a hotel in Osaka or Kyoto and that you are too unwell to come in. The team can then respond to your request and explain the appropriate next step.
The clinics issue itemized receipts that can be used when seeking reimbursement from a travel insurer. Direct billing is not offered, and reimbursement depends on your policy, so check the insurer’s requirements when you can.
Keep your receipt and any other documents requested by your insurer. If you know that your insurer requires particular paperwork, mention this when contacting the clinic.
Fees depend on the care provided. No direct billing is available for international travel insurance, but receipts are issued for reimbursement claims. See the fees section on the Osaka Namba clinic page or the Kyoto clinic page before arranging care.
Send a message by WhatsApp or email, call the clinic, or ask your hotel staff to contact the clinic for you. Explain that you are asking about a hotel doctor visit and whether you are in Osaka or Kyoto.
Have your passport and travel insurance documents ready. It is also helpful to have information about your current medications and past medical records available if you have them. If a hotel visit is arranged, keep these items with you in your room. If the clinic advises an outpatient visit instead, bring them with you.
If you are too unwell to leave your room, contact Dr. Coming International Clinic Osaka Namba or Dr. Coming International Clinic Kyoto Station to discuss a hotel doctor visit.
