GLP-1 Weight Management in Japan: How Our Self-Paid Program Works

Published
Travel Health Guide

How our self-paid GLP-1 weight management program works, including weekly injections, the first consultation, blood testing, and follow-up care.

Considering medical weight management while living in or visiting Japan can raise practical questions: What happens at the first appointment? How often is treatment provided? Who decides whether it is suitable for you?

Our Kyoto and Osaka Namba clinics publish a self-paid GLP-1 weight management program. This guide explains the program within the scope of that published service so you know what to ask before arranging a visit.

When to See a Doctor

Arrange a consultation if you are considering the program and want a doctor to assess whether it may be appropriate for you. Suitability and dosage are not decided from a service description or an online inquiry; the doctor makes those decisions after the consultation and testing.

In a life-threatening emergency, call 119 for an ambulance. Our clinic provides outpatient care and is not an emergency room.

What the Published Program Includes

The program uses an injection given weekly. The first visit includes a consultation, a blood test, and instruction on the injection. Follow-up doses are provided weekly as part of the program.

These are the steps described by the clinic’s service card. They do not establish suitability for an individual or determine a dose in advance.

How Suitability and Dosage Are Decided

The doctor reviews the consultation and test results before deciding whether the program is appropriate and what dose to use. The plan is therefore individualized at the clinic rather than selected by the patient before the appointment.

The consultation is also when the doctor explains possible side effects, including nausea. Ask any questions you have about the injection, the proposed dose, and follow-up before deciding whether to proceed.

Fees & Insurance

This is self-paid care. Contact the clinic in advance for current cost information; this article does not quote an amount. You can also see the fees section on the Kyoto clinic page or the Osaka Namba clinic page.

How to Visit

Contact the clinic by WhatsApp or email, or ask your hotel concierge or front desk to help arrange your visit. Bring your passport and travel-insurance policy with you.

Ask about the program at Dr. Coming International Clinic Kyoto Station or Dr. Coming International Clinic Osaka Namba.
